Six - Seven week update

Posted by Debra Boudreau on September 17, 2018 at 10:25 AM

It has been a very busy two weeks.  The puppies are eating puppy food now and have turned into little pooping machines!  We have started the process of outside house training.  It is quite the challenge to get all six puppies outside after eating before anyone has to poo!

They love to play outside, our older puppies Heidi and Vimy love to play with them too!

Four Week Update

Posted by Debra Boudreau on August 28, 2018 at 9:40 PM

Puppies are 4 weeks old and growing like weeds.  They are more interactive with each other and respond to our voices.  They are spending time in a new play area with lots of fun toys to play with.  Big sister Heidi had to check it out first.

Lazy Saturday Afternoon

Posted by Debra Boudreau on August 25, 2018 at 3:05 PM

It is a lazy Saturday afternoon, the puppies still spend most of their time sleeping.  I am starting to get them out of the whelping box a few times a day to see some new sights and sounds. All puppies are steadily gaining weight.  Smudge is a great Mom!  My camera is getting old and is not working properly, the individual three week photos did not turn out very good at all.  I stuck with using my tablet for photos.

Three Week Update

Posted by Debra Boudreau on August 20, 2018 at 9:50 PM

The puppies are 3 weeks old already!  They are starting to toddle around the whelping box and trying to play with each other.  They are still steadily gaining weight and they are all over pound!  Pictures tomorrow!

Two Week Update

Posted by Debra Boudreau on August 13, 2018 at 9:40 PM

The puppies are two weeks old today. They are steadily gaining weight, they are now double their birth weight. Four out of six opened their eyes today!

May I help

Posted by Debra Boudreau on August 7, 2018 at 9:40 PM

Heidi is the puppy we kept from Smudge's last litter.  She doesn't understand why her mom doesn't want to play with her now.  Smudge has been very tolerant of her daughter, today Heidi decided to test the limits!

Please Mom may I help!

Realy, you won't even know I'm here.

Hey it was great while it lasted.

One Week Old Update

Posted by Debra Boudreau on August 6, 2018 at 7:30 PM

The puppies are nursing, sleeping and growing!  They don't to much more than that at this age.  It is fun to watch them.  Here is a picture from today.  One of these things is not like the others!  :)

We like to name the puppies while they are with us and we like to have a theme to help with the names.  My daughter choose the them for this litter.  Constellations!  Introducing:

Four Days Old

Posted by Debra Boudreau on August 3, 2018 at 9:35 AM

The puppies are 4 days old and starting to steadily gain weight. They all lost a few grams in the first day but they are now gaining. Which is always a relief. Smudge is doing well, she is a great mom.

Havanese Six Week update

Posted by Debra Boudreau on December 29, 2017 at 11:10 AM

The Havanese are growing steadily!  They have started eating solid foods and they were not quite sure what they think of it at first but now they are eagerly waiting for their meals.  Smudge has started the weaning process and only allows them to nurse a few time a day.  They love playtime with their "big" brothers and sisters.  We supervise them carefully so no one gets to rambunctious, they love cuddle time!  Sorry I uploaded the wrong feeding photo and it won't let me delete it.

Barbet 5 - 6 week update

Posted by Debra Boudreau on December 29, 2017 at 10:50 AM

Puppies are growing like weeds.  They all weigh between 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 pounds!  They have started on solid foods and they love it!  Freyja has started the weaning process and is feeding them only a few times a day.  We have started the housetraining process and they are so smart and are catching on very quickly doing their "business" outside.  Their indoor area has been changed to give all the puppies more room.

Havanese Five Week update

Posted by Debra Boudreau on December 20, 2017 at 11:50 PM

The puppies are five weeks old now, and they are coming alive! Up until now, Smudge (mom) has done the majority of the work. Feeding and cleaning the puppies and doing a great job. Now the tables are turning, they are starting to eat solid food, and they want to explore everything around them. Not to mention they have turned into pooping machines. It is now my turn to feed and clean up after them. Thankfully they are using the pee pad consistently so clean up is not too bad. They love playtime out of their pen and love to run around, I'm thankful I have 2 teenagers that help me keep track of them. I ran out of time to take individual pictures, now that the kids are out of school I hope they will help with a photo shoot.  Here are a couple of pictures from this week.

Barbet 4 Week Photos

The Barbet puppies were not as cooperative as the Havanese.  I waited until they were tired to take the pictures, but they woke up in no time.  :)
